Meanwhile, Detective Sherlock Ted was burning his ass off, dangling over hot lava, he had no chance of escape! One of the Tyrannosaurus Rex had put a Dillophosaurus on guard. Ted then had an idea, he pulled out a small pocket knife, then slowly cut through each bit of rope holding him.
Just as the last rope snapped he jumped up and grabbed the main rope, then he threw the knife at the dilophosaur, dropped down dead.
Ted ran through the hideout searching for the exit, suddenly he came across five cages, in one of them was a lion cub.. Ted took some keys from the wall and opened the cage. The lion hopped out. "Hi" said Ted, "Hi" said the lion cub "My names Simba," "Oh" said Ted, "mines Ted,".
Ted and Simba ran through all the corridors when suddenly the ground started shaking!
END CHAPTER EIGHT
Notes: I'm not sure this facility is particularly well run.
The Lion King came out in 1994, so naturally it was incorporated into the story. Both the dilophosaurus and Simba were based on toys my cousin and I owned, though only the latter still exists today. I actually had two dilophosauruses - one rubber one that you could fill with water and squeeze to recreate the 'spitting' in the film, and one proper one made out of plastic that had the frill and roared when you squeezed its legs.
Simba was originally owned by my cousin. It's a simple soft toy but it has a magnet in its nose - there's a Nala toy that can be partnered with it, that has the same magnet, and they 'kiss' when you put their noses together. Since I don't have the Nala toy, I just attach him to radiators.
And I say it was originally owned by my cousin: I essentially begged for her to let me have it. She relented, though expressed regret later. I ignored this obvious request to give Simba back.
Ten year-old me was a dick.
I'm pretty horrified by the swearing, use of the word 'ass' over 'arse' and weak character building. From a technical point of view ten year old you was a fairly weak author, tbh.
ReplyDeleteThat's probably why he never got a full book deal :(
